Is God Silent? How Stressed Out Moms Can Pray to Hear from God

His silence was never the same thing as His absence.

You pray every single day, and instead of hearing from God, all you get is quiet. If you’ve started wondering whether He’s even listening, or whether He’s really there at all, this study is for you. We’re looking at what Scripture actually says about waiting on God, and why His silence has never once meant He walked away.

What have you been praying about on repeat, with no answer in sight? Be honest about how the silence has actually made you feel toward God.

This week’s scripture

“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God.’”

Ground yourself in His WordWhat does the passage actually say?
Psalm 46:10 wasn’t written in a quiet, peaceful season. Read a few verses back and the nations are in an uproar, the earth is giving way, everything is loud and shaking. In the middle of all of it, God doesn’t say fix the noise first. He says be still, and know that I am God. His silence in your life was never Him checking out. It might be Him asking you to stop scanning for an answer and actually look at Him.
Read Psalm 46:10 again. Be honest: have you been listening for an answer from God lately, or listening for Him? What’s the difference for you right now?
R
Return to Him in prayerBring it honestly
1 Peter 5:7 doesn’t say cast your anxiety on Him once you’ve calmed down or once you’ve prayed about it enough times to earn a response. It says cast it now, because He cares, present tense, whether or not you can feel it landing. Praying the same stressed-out request for the tenth time isn’t weak faith. It’s honest faith. He can handle the version of you that’s tired of asking.
What’s the thing you keep bringing to God and still haven’t heard anything back about? Say it here exactly how you’d say it to Him, no polishing.
O
Open yourself to His presenceTake your time here
In Exodus 16 and 17, the Israelites didn’t get a lifetime supply of manna dropped once and done. They got exactly enough for one day, every single day, and had to trust Him to show up again tomorrow. That’s not a God who went quiet between meals. That’s a God who kept showing up in a rhythm they had to learn to notice instead of one big answer they were waiting on. His silence in your life might be the same thing: not absence, just a different rhythm than the instant answer you’ve been holding out for.
Where might God actually be present or providing right now in a way you’ve been too focused on “the answer” to notice?

Walk it outOne small thing this week
James 1:5 says if you lack wisdom, ask. Not perform, not earn it, not get the wording right first. Just ask, plainly, and He gives generously without holding your doubt against you. That’s the whole shift this week: stop trying to pray your way into an answer, and start actually asking the One who already wants to give.
Write one honest, plain sentence you’ll actually pray this week instead of the polished version you think you’re supposed to say. Grab the CAST Prayer Guide above if you want a simple framework to lean on.
The heart of it
God’s silence was never the same thing as His absence. Keep showing up, keep asking, and let Him meet you in the waiting instead of only in the answer.
Carry this with you: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
