Confession and repentance isn’t about shaming us. It’s about freeing us.
If the words confession, repentance, and sin make you feel guilty or scared, stay with me. I want to show you what God actually says, and free you from the feelings you were handed.
When you hear the words confession, repentance, or sin, what’s the first feeling that comes up in you?

“And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Ground yourself in His WordWhat does the passage actually say?
In the Old Testament, sin meant a sacrifice. An actual animal, killed, blood spilled, every single time someone needed to be made right with God. And it never finished the job. They had to do it again. And again. Then Jesus did what all of that never could. One sacrifice. Once. Finished. Read Hebrews 10:10 again with that in mind.
What changes for you in those two words, “once for all”? What did Jesus finish that all those sacrifices never could?

Because of that one sacrifice, you get to go straight to God now. No middleman. Nothing to bring to an altar and hope it’s enough. Just you, talking to Him.

Confession and repentance aren’t a punishment to dread. They’re a gift you get to open. When we confess and turn, we’re forgiven. Immediately. No questions asked.

The heart of it
God gives us gifts. Not to shame us or make us feel guilty for sinning. But because he loves us. He created us! And he loves his creations.
Carry this with you: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
